(CLEAVER, ELDRIDGE) Garment label from Eldridge Cleaver Unlimited
No place: Eldridge Cleaver Unlimited, n.d. 2 7/8 x 1 1/8 in. Fine. ¶ Cloth label with "Eldridge Cleaver Unlimited" stitched in brown thread on the right-hand side and a leaf with the initials " e c u" stitched in green thread on the left. This apparently was designed for the infamous "Cleavers," the tight-fitting pants which featured something resembling a codpiece at the front. These were announced but never made their way to the market, perhaps because their design occasioned a great deal of derision.
