Spine with 5 raised bands and gilt titles. All page edges bright gilt. Marbled endpapers. Original presentation label laid-down to the verso of the front board: "Presented to The Right Honble Lord Viscount Cross G.CB, GCSI. by the Master and Wardens of the Saddler's Company Fred. Wm. Porter W. Master. Sadler's Hall, Cheapside, E.C. 20th December 1895". Armorial bookplate to front endpaper: "Eccle Riggs Library". Also (loosely inserted); Original purchase invoice for Dr. Lattimore, for £18.00, dated 02/05/78 from "The Bookroom, First Floor, 10 Green Street, Cambridge.." Binder's stamp to recto of rear endpaper: "Bound By Harrison & Sons St Martins Lane." Clean text throughout with numerous full-page plates (some folding).
