The Biddles were friends and neighbors of Abraham Lincoln; in fact, Benjamin was a some-time tailor to the future President. Inscription on front free endpaper reads: "Robert Evans Biddle--Presented to him by his Sunday School Teacher, for his advancement at school. Springfield, Ills. Feb. 19th 1849". Fair.
