King, a West Point graduate who served in the Indian Wars under George Crook, wrote and edited 60 novels and wrote several scripts for Buffalo Bill Cody's silent films. His military experience greatly influenced his writing. The Dornbusch King bibliography states that this cover was the first issue. The Peace Pipe cover is a later issue. The Remington frontispiece is the only Remington plate but it is actually used twice. Very good .
