This is the unusually designed catalogue published in conjunction with the 1997 Watari Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo exhibition of the same name. This is described by Mike Kelley here as "an exercise in the construction of a history, and specifically a minor history. This project is a collaboration between myself and Tony Oursler. It takes the form of a video installation; a three CD box set produced by Oursler and myself as part of a band: The Poetics, in the late seventies and early eighties; and a xerox fanzine-style book which recreates our original band notebook augmented with period photos, an extra CD, and essays by each artist". This is designed in the style of a CD boxed set, and contains both textual and photographic documentation (including the recreation of the Poetics Project at Documenta X that same year), but no recorded music (that was released separately by the Cortical Foundation). A pristine copy still in the publisher's shrinkwrap.. Fine.
