(1929), in-4to oblong, in all 280 p., illustrated with numerous photographs, plans, etc., 5 illustrated wrappers, in original ill. covers with inlays, borders of frontcover brownstained, spine with red wine stain. ¶ Publication on the enclosing and partial reclaiming of the Zuyder Zee, in the northern part of the Netherlands: - the enclosing by which the water of the North Sea was seperated from the enclosed part of the Zuyder Zee. - the reclaiming, by which parts of the enclosed area were to be embanked by dams from the remaining water, and to be drained by pumps in order to make the reclaimed bottom of the sea inhabitable (creation of polders) and fit for cultivation. According to schedule the whole process would take some 32 years: from 1920 up to 1952. Illustrated with many photographs. Text in four languages: Dutch, French, German, and English. Third edition.
