Folio. 4 1/2 columns of text plus large map, 9 1/2 x 12 inches, showing counties, towns, rivers, and topography, plus insets of Maysville area of Ohio River, Falls of Ohio at Louisville and New Albany and Jeffersonville, Indiana; and the Lexington area. Text includes list of counties and county towns, with population in 1820 and 1830. Plus sections on history, canals and railroads, commerce, education, etc. and remarks on growing movement to emancipate slaves in Kentucky. The _Observer_ was a Protestant newspaper published by Sidney E. Morse, with anti-slavery content. Rare early Kentucky map and description. Near fine condition.
