XXVII,616 pp. Contemp. h.leaher binding, spine richly gilt, marbled covers. 8vo.Complete copy in attractive binding. - - The Chronicon Tielense is a 16th-century collection of three separate (book) works from the 15th and 16th centuries, the oldest texts of which date from the period 1450-1455. The books successively deal in Latin with world history known up to that point, Dutch regional history, the history of the Dutch city of Tiel from 1552 - 1566 and the Holy Land. Chronicon Tielense is not the original title of the work, but the title given to it since the 16th century. The title means as much as chronicle residing in Tiel. The collection not only tells about Tiel's history, although parts within the collection are devoted to Tiel. The Chronicon also became known through this (partial) edition in 1789 by Johannes Diederik van Leeuwen. The description of the history of Tiel is attributed to the former Tiel pastor of the Sint-Maartenskerk in Tiel, Peter van TeeffelenThe original book is in the Regionaal Archief Rivierenland in Tiel.
