First Edition. Hardcover. A tight solid book, hinges intact. 11 full page illustrations and numerous smaller ones. Black stamped design on front and spine with gilt stamped titles spine, front titles in relief on a gilt field, blindstamped design on back. A very attractive volume ; Light general wear of blue cloth covered boards, barely through the cloth at fore corners, light soil of end papers. An attempt was made to remove a Missionary Society bookplate on front pastedown with loss of left corners only, when that didn't work, previous owner put a couple of stickers over it. Stickers removed safely leaving a brown discoloration from glue. Bookplate appears to be pre 1900 and is still quite legible. Light wear to spine ends, unfrayed ; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 199 pages; Semmens gives details of his life and missionary work in northern Canada, specifically Manitoba, working with the Indians and the traders at such places as Norway House, Nelson River, Beren's River etc. Peel 771, Whale 1361.
