Title: The Yale Literary Magazine Conducted by the Students of Yale University
Description: New Haven, CT, The Editors, 1912 - 1914. First Edition. Softcover. Four issues in wraps including Volume LXXVII, No. VII, Volume LXXVIII, Nos. III and VIII, and Volume LXXIX, No. 5, with three poems and two pieces of fiction by Archibald MacLeish, his earliest appearances in print. The two stories are of particular interest. MacLeish wrote a total of eight stories for the magazine. He never published any prose fiction again. Light wear. Near Fine Archibald MacLeish was not only a well-known poet but also served as Librarian of Congress, appointed by Franklin Roosevelt, a position he used to reorganize and promote the institution. In addition to winning three Pulitzer Prizes, MacLeish was commissioned by the NEW YORK TIMES to write a poem to celebrate the Apollo 11 moon landing, which he entitled "Voyage to the Moon" and which appeared on the front page of the 21 July 1969 edition of the paper.
