Blue cloth, 302 pages text, 88 pages containing 158 black and white plates (all present); ex-library with front endpaper & title page removed, otherwise very clean book with bright dustjacket, minor wear. This detailed and scholarly book deals with the work of the professional lithographic draughtsmen of the first half of the nineteenth century in England and France and the methods of working on stone which were devised to suit their needs. In the final section of the book, the author traces the development of the making of topographical and landscape prints. Very Good/Very Good.
