Japanese stamp on endpaper, previous owner's inscription in ink (T.Takomura?) at head of Chapter One and in Japanese at bottom of page 277. Original glossy sepia photograph of a group of English & Japanese ladies has been inserted. Inside hinge cracked, rubbing to boards. A fascinating record of the author's observations of six years in Japan at the beginning of the twentieth century. Good.
