In this book the author charts Luke Howard's life from obscurity to fame, when he changed the face of meteorology forever, by giving a language to something that had hitherto been nameless and imprecise -- the clouds --, and then his self sought-after obscurity. Light shelf wear to the lower book edges. Scattering of marks to the top text block edge. Photographic dustwrapper, showing Albert Einstein against a sepia toned photographs of a railway station, with yellow and black titles to the front panel and backstrip. Rubbing and creasing to the dustwrapper edges and rubbing to the dustwrapper panels. The major damage is to the verso of the dustwrapper where there is a water sustain that runs the fall width of the lower dustwrapper edge, not including the fold over panels. Black-and-white photograph of the author to the rear fold over panel. A double biography of both Albert Einstein and of Berlin. Between March 1914 until December 1932, Albert Einstein lived and worked in Berlin. At that same period of time Berlin had an artistic explosion with music, theatre and literature. But with the eventual onset of the Depression and the rise of Hitler Berlin was no longer safe for Einstein as was the artistic explosion was severely curtailed with the rise of Hitler.
