Elephant with swastika symbol in a circle stamped in gold on front cover. Spine has tooled gilt decorations, swastika symbol and title stamped in gold. Two of the volumes have splits to front joints part way down, some chipping and wear to head and foot of spines, otherwise, these are bright, tight and a Very Good set of books. Look great on the bookshelf. Norwalk, CT:, The Easton Press,, (1999). Collector's Edition, signed by Michael Ondaatje on a special signature page. 9 1/4 X 6 1/4. Bound in full, dark tan leather, with elaborate gilt-stamped decorations on the covers. Four raised bands on the spine with gilt decorations gilt-stamped titling in the spine panels. Peach moire end papers and a bound-in silk book mark. All edges are gilt. Fine condition with a laid-in note about the book and the author, and a certificate of authenticity also signed by Ondaatje (neither of them are attached). "With brilliant language and imagination, The English Patient combines adventure, romance and philosophy for a vision of survival and redemption in spite of overwhelming odds." This book was made into a fine motion picture that won 9 Academy Awards.

Leather is moderately rubbed, corner tips worn, gilt somewhat faded and there is wear to spine ends and a 3/8" piece missing from spine top of vol. I. Front cover of Vol. I is held by cords. Despite the foregoing defects, this is a presentable copy in a nice binding. The contents are Very Good.
