WHEELER, J. B.,  The Elements of Field Fortifications for the Use of the Cadets of the United States Military Academy at West Point, N.Y.
New York:, D. Van Norstrand,, 1882. Frontis. and illustrated with drawings. 7 5/8 x 5 1/4. Original brown cloth with gilt spine title. Corners bumped, covers mottled in places, spine gilt is faded, overall G+. There are pencil writings on some of the margins and on the blank end papers, obviously by one of the cadets who was using the book in class, who has also written his name on the end paper. Very Scarce. A text book for the future soldiers at West Point. Interesting early tactical strategy book and makes us wonder how much of it is still valid. A nice collector's item for the ex or present military person or military buff.
