| POWERS, FRANCIS GARY WITH CURT GENTRY, Operation Overflight: The U-2 Spy Pilot Tells His Story for the First Time. New York:, Holt, Rinehart and Winston,, (1970). Stated First Edition. The book is inscribed: "To: Pete Lathrop. Best Wishes." and signed by Gary Francis Powers and dated May 17, 1970."This book is from the estate of Lincoln "Pete" Lathrop, a test pilot for many aircraft companies including Lockheed. Also signed by Lathrop in the front paste down. Tipped on the rear paste down is a real photo of Powers sitting on a couch with another man (Lathrop (?) and Powers is pointing out something on a large map on the table in front of them. At the bottom of the photo it states: "Photo: Sue Powers." Sixteen pages of illustrations. 8 1/2 x 5 3/4. Hardbound in green cloth backed by blue cloth spine. The book is tight and the contents are Very Good to Near Fine. The binding is soiled and the title on the spine is rubbed, and overall it is Fair. The value of the book is the signature and the photo. A scarce bit of Cold War Memorobilia.
