| ANONYMOUS, KRONHAUSEN, DRS PHYLLIS AND EBERHARD (EDS) Walter, the English Casanova: a Presentation of His Unique Memoirs, "My Secret Life" - Vols I & 2 London, Polybooks. 1967. Mass Market Paperback. 325pp (170pp in Vol I (First Edition) and balance in Vol II (Reprint)) - Described by Maya Mirsky.in her review, as "..a parade of genitalia, pornographic writing of the most explicit and lascivious kind . unusual as a surviving piece of hardcore Victorian pornographic writing", it is a lengthy sexual memoir of a Victorian gentleman. "My Secret Life" was originally published as an eleven, yes I said 11, volume set. The set was published between 1888-1894 in Amsterdam by the Belgian-born bookseller/publisher Auguste Brancart. Although published anonymously, it is the general consensus that the author was Henry Spencer Ashbee. Ashbee was a book collector, writer, and bibliographer notable for his particular focus on sexuality. 172-208 The volumes are "Perfect Bound", which is one of the great mis-nomers in the publishing industry, because such binding is far from perfect in its results. In this case, for example, in Vol II pages 172-208 have come loose (in two sections) but are present. Otherwise books are relatively clean and tight. Very Good/No Jacket. GBP 10.00 [Appr.: EURO 11 US$ 16.54 | JP¥ 1423] Book number: 007211 Click here to order or inquire at Books at Star Dot Star. | |
