Full-Leather, 4 x 6.75". 297pp + 2pp publisher's catalogue - Volume 4 (of four) of the Fourth Edition of the classic originally published in 140 numbers from November 7, 1752, to March 9, 1754; edited and largely written by John Hawkesworth, with contributions by Samuel Johnson, Richard Bathurst and Joseph Warton. Bound in contemporary, full calf leather with gilt rules to the front, rear and spine with a gilt numeral 4 also to the spine. Covers are less worn and soiled than might be expected of a 250-year-old book.
