| CARL ANDRE, BARRY LE VA, RICHARD LONG Andre Le Va Long Corcoran Gallery of Art. 1977, First Edition. Wraps As Issued. One of 1500 copies of this catalogue. Wonderful to imagine the work of these three in one space, and the Corcoran, of all spaces. Andre used the floor; Le Va did too, but crept up the walls a bit; and Long, naturally, brought in stuff from outdoors. Perhaps the best photograph is "Andre's 17 Pieces of Work viewed from Long's Stone Circle" with the Corcoran's thudding moldings dominating the image. 32 pages, black and white photography. In Fine condition, in wraps as issued. Fine/Issued Without Jacket. USD 20.00 [Appr.: EURO 13.5 | £UK 12 | JP¥ 1778] Book number: 6346 Click here to order or inquire at Ruggles Books. | ||

The work does indeed look like two gazebos (pictured here indoors and out, in color); also shown (again, in color) are three of a charming series, "Notations on Streets". Fine in card as issued. Fine/Issued Without Jacket. USD 12.00 [Appr.: EURO 8.25 | £UK 7.25 | JP¥ 1067] Book number: 1433 Click here to order or inquire at Ruggles Books.

| ARMSTRONG, RICHARD Alexis Smith [1991] Whitney Museum of American Art/Rizzoli. 1991, First Edition. Hard Cover. 244-page catalogue of the Whitney's big retrospective show of Smith's work, the first. She interned with Frank Gehry, remember, and she's an L.A. woman: the result is a lifelong dedication to the peculiar detritus of popular culture in her environment. Part assemblage, part collage, part sculpture, definitely part installation-it's all a kick with a serious mind behind it. Fine hardcover in Fine dust jacket. Fine/Fine. USD 30.00 [Appr.: EURO 20.25 | £UK 18 | JP¥ 2668] Book number: 3742 Click here to order or inquire at Ruggles Books. | ||
| WHITNEY MUSEUM OF AMERICAN ART 1975 Biennial Exhibition Whitney Museum of American Art. 1975, First Edition. Wraps As Issued. Exhibition catalogue in softcover as issued. The Whitney annuals and biennials are justly famous, and '75 was a VERY good year. Visual artists range from Martha Alf to Ellyn Zimmerman and video artists from Billy Adler to Bill Viola. All illustrated in black and white and accompanied by brief biographies of the artists. Media are all over the place, of course: metal and mineral, vegetable, and even acrylic. I'm particularly taken with "W. B. Bearman Bags a Job" (performance), the paintings by Ross Bleckner and Sam Cady, the constructions of Jerry Jones and Hass Murphy, and the clay thing that Charles Simonds built in the parking lot. Catalogue is bumped to spine ends, has a crease to the front cover, and is lightly soiled. Very Good/Issued Without Jacket. USD 25.00 [Appr.: EURO 17 | £UK 15 | JP¥ 2223] Book number: 2285 Click here to order or inquire at Ruggles Books. | ||

January 17-March 1, 1981. 48-page catalogue, illustrated, and with interviews with the artists. Illustrated with more than 70 color plates, so that the range of metal finishes is apparent. Text in French; pas de probleme, because the work speaks for itself. Because the range is over nearly 30 years, Steiner's development is what fascinates. Fine in pictorial laminated boards as issued. Fine/Issued Without Jacket. USD 30.00 [Appr.: EURO 20.25 | £UK 18 | JP¥ 2668] Book number: 1898 Click here to order or inquire at Ruggles Books.
