| DALI, SALVADOR A Collection of Objets d'art and Jewels designed by Salvador Dali and Presented by the Catherwood Foundation Catherwood Foundation. First Edition. Wraps As Issued. This catalogue is undated, but the Catherwood acquired a collection of jewelry and objets d'art in early 1953-this pamphlet tactfully does not say from whom. The objects were made by Alemany and Ertman in New York from Dali's designs. Four color plates and 8 in black and white, plus the sketches, which are of real interest. The "Tristan and Isolde" piece and "The Virgin of the Aquamarine" have Dali's characteristic smirk; the others are actually rather conventional, although the workmanship is exquisite. Text in French, English, Italian, and Spanish. An important resource. This copy, in wraps as issued, in Very Good condition: white covers are moderately soiled and rubbed, and the corners are lightly worn. Very Good/Issued Without Jacket. USD 60.00 [Appr.: EURO 40.25 | £UK 36.25 | JP¥ 5295] Book number: 3436 Click here to order or inquire at Ruggles Books. | ||

| LEWIS, MARY E. AND DOROTHY DIGNAM The Marriage of Diamonds and Dolls, including the history of American Bridal Customs Lindquist. 1947, First Edition Stated. Hard Cover. This is such a curious book, I had to include it. Why in a list of design and fine crafts titles? One answer is "for the diamonds alone"-the author has included a photograph of a wedding or engagement ring with each photograph of a bride doll, thus providing a convenient snapshot of the stones and settings that were popular in the 30s and 40s. For the fashion, too, although only the professionals among you will know what the time lag was between bridal fashion and regular fashion in the 40s. The extremely detailed information about bridal customs is a bonus that you may appreciate more than you think. This copy in a Fine hardcover binding with a near-Fine dust jacket (slightly off-white) in protective Mylar. Fine/Near-Fine. USD 30.00 [Appr.: EURO 20.25 | £UK 18.25 | JP¥ 2648] Book number: 2497 Click here to order or inquire at Ruggles Books. | ||

You won't need words much, though, once you get into these covers-magazine covers. 224 pages, all color all the time (where appropriate). Pictures do tell. Fine hardcover binding in Fine dust jacket. Fine/Fine. USD 100.00 [Appr.: EURO 66.75 | £UK 60.25 | JP¥ 8826] Book number: 6279 Click here to order or inquire at Ruggles Books. | ||
| DIAZ, FEDERICO ET AL. E-Area National Art Gallery and Andersen Consulting. 1999, First Edition. Plastic Over Spiral-Bound Wrap. This publication, known as "catalogue no. 7", is a beautiful presentation of part of the plans that Diaz and the creative group known as E-Area for an educational center, although looking at the images, you might imagine they were building a space station. The 3-D computer generated visualizations show various parts of the plans, accompanied by text in Czech and English. The cardstock pages are near-Fine with light wear to corners; they are spiral-bound and enclosed in opaque hard plastic with an abstraction front and back, with the rear cover bolted to the back board. The plastic is bulmped to the spine ends and split at the tail; the original overlapping bit of plastic at the leading front edge is lacking about a third of its length. Nonetheless, quite an amazing document. Near-Fine/Very Good. USD 65.00 [Appr.: EURO 43.5 | £UK 39.25 | JP¥ 5737] Book number: 3362 Click here to order or inquire at Ruggles Books. | ||
