| BLOOM, BARBARA Barbara Bloom: Never Odd or Even Verlag Silke Schreiber/Carnegie Museum of Art. 1990, First Edition, Limited. Paper in Glassine. Special edition of a wonderful portfolio published in Germany to accompany the 1990 exhibition "Signa Te, Signa Temere me Tangis et Angis", a not-quite-Latin title that suggests (ha!) semiotics at work. The pages of this copy are uncut (instructions for cutting them are included on a single translucent sheet). Illustrations, primarily photographs by Bloom, in black and white. Essentially, another of Bloom's famous "collections", this one about collecting, including Nabokov's butterflies, Walter Benjamin's pronouncements, and a piece from Fowles's novel. A full list of the "collection" printed on the center panel. Not so much an exhibition catalogue as book-as-object. Beautiful paper enclosed in a portfolio wrap, in turn wrapped in glassine cover closed by a label, in German, saying that postal officials may open it. In Fine condition. Fine/Fine. USD 75.00 [Appr.: EURO 50.25 | £UK 45.25 | JP¥ 6619] Book number: 4065 Click here to order or inquire at Ruggles Books. | ||

| NONE A Choice of Manuscripts and Bookbindings from the Library of Isabella Stewart Gardner, Fenway Court Merrymount Press. 1922, Second Edition. Hard Cover. 104 pages. Although not the first edition to catalogue Mrs. Gardner's books, this is nonetheless invaluable for its descriptions, and Updike was presumably better pleased with this one anyway, which is a fine example of his and Merrymount's skills. 102 pages (some of which are uncut). No visual data, but highly detailed verbal descriptions including measurements. Corners are bumped a bit, the edges are lightly worn, and there is slight fraying and splitting to the spine head, but the spine label is intact. In all, condition is Very Good to near-Fine. Very Good to Near-Fine/Issued Without Jacket. USD 120.00 [Appr.: EURO 80.25 | £UK 72.25 | JP¥ 10591] Book number: 6103 Click here to order or inquire at Ruggles Books. | ||
