Printed on thick cartridge paper. A small faint 1 cm mark in sky, see photo, two small indentations in paper in margin, well outside image, otherwise in very good condition. Image size 190 x 360mm Page size 225 x 395mm Dr.Ardizonne states that Edward Ardizzone had intended an edition of 50 copies and 24 were printed. These were printed either on thick cartridge paper, like this one, or some on a light off white Japanese paper. He also states that most pulls were numbered, titled & signed by Edward Ardizzone in pencil, others were just signed and titled. However this copy is not signed, titled or numbered by the artist. BROWNE, GEORGE ELMER.  The Sea
. Ill.: George Elmer Browne. 'The Sea' Painting by George Elmer Browne. ‘The Sea’ is an original small plein-air painting on panel. Framed in its original hand carved wooden frame with a brown velvet trim and brass label at lower front. On the board the label reads ‘Chapellier Galleries’, New York. The number ‘12A’, and the label stating ‘paintings of quality since 1916’ suggest that the painting was exhibited after 1916. The original title of “Rocks and Surf’ has been crossed off in pencil and replaced by another title ‘The Sea’. It has just been cleaned but a professional conservator. The frame has been left in its original state. Painting size 15 x 18 inches (approx 380 x 440mm). Very Good.

Paris, ETCHING. 1893. Ill.: Corot. Etching printed in Paris 1893. The plate 'Souvenir of Tuscany' , was Corot’s first etching, summarily needled about 1845 but left unbitten, until 1865 when Braquemond discovered it in a box of nails at Corot’s home. Bracquemond took proofs and Corot reworked the subject extensively. After Corot’ death the plate was lettered with the title etc. and published in the Gazette des Beaux Arts to accompany the obituary article in 1875.132mm x 182mm: Framed. Very Good.

HILL, VERNON.  Frittillary'. An Original Drawing by Vernon Hill.
London. Leicester Galleries. 1924, First Edition. Single Sheet. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. Ill.: Hill, Vernon. An original drawing in Sanguine titled 'Frittillary' by Vernon Hill. The drawing is not signed, but the original Leicester Galleries label is attached to the rear of the frame, it was no.46 in the 1924 Vernon Hill exhibition. Unexamined out of frame, this appears not to have been stuck down and is free of foxing, the drawing measures 240x180mm. and illustrator. He was born in Halifaxinn 1887, apprenticed to a trade lithographer at thirteen and was a student teacher at seventeen. In 1908 he was working under John Hassall and was published his first illustrations the year following. Hill is strongest as a figure draughtsman and his swirling bodies and large wave nd plant shapes make him a classical equivalent of the Beardsley erotism. In November 1909, ‘The Bodleain’ referred to him as ‘a youth only just past his teens, his inventions have the internal quality of beauty, his imagination is so rich sa astonishing in its originality, and he is beside so gifted with rare humour, that his work defies comparison with anything known to us..’ Houfe: The Dictionary of British Book Illustrators. 8/07. This monoprint is numbered 15 of 15 copies, of which there are three different editions which were made between 1965 and 68. This appears to be number 'B'. Appears to be in good condition, unexamined out of its modern wooden frame. A lovely image that represents his love of textures which can also be seen within his sculptures. Image size 265 x 350mm Frame size 420 x 600mm. Very Good/No Jacket.
