| HOFFA, JAMES R. Typed Letter signed by "James R. Hoffa" General President of the International Brotherhood ot Teamsters. Washington, D.C. April 27, 1964. A 4-paragraph letter in 22 lines addressed to Mr. Fred Reidel: "First of all, I wish to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your expression of support. ...Secondly, you can rest assured that the verdict rendered in Chattanooga will be argued...I never backed away from a fight in my life. I will not back away from this one. I could never quit, knowing that our system of justice is being eroded by those who use personal position to satisfy personal dislikes, and by those who deterine for themselves who is right and who is wrong, and then arbitrarily set out to jail those they judge wrong." "I am urged on by your message...and from the rank-and-file Teamster members... Thanks again, and with God's grace, we will win--not just a reversal for Jimmy Hoffa, but a reversal of tactics which if continued will undermine the American way of life. Fraternally yours, James R. Hoffa (Signed in blue ink) General President. Very good on Teamster stationery with gold lettering in the letterhead and the Teamster symbol of two horses surmounting a wheel. Also with the original Teamsters envelope which is worn, and opened carelessly at the left side.
