Dr. Worcester tells how the training of nurses began in this country; gives charming descriptions of great nurses he has known, such, for example, as Florence Nightingale, Miss Pringle, and the Baroness von Olnhausen; provides instructive glimpses of some of the famous Nursing Schools of Germany, Switzerland, and England; and tells the story of the Training School at Waltham, Massachusetts, where for forty years he was a family physician. (Publisher's Note) Author inscription. Presented to: "Catherine McLeod from the Author Oct. 1936" inscribed in black ink on the front endpaper. A splendid copy in finely woven burgundy cloth stamped brightly in gilt on the spine. Clean and tight throughout. In a defective dustjacket missing 2" of the bottom of the spine and separated along the front edge fold. The front and rear panels, however, are complete and attractive. With the original price of $2.00 at the top of the inside front flap.
