NY. Scribner's Sons. 1956. Early Edition with Scribner's "A" and (K) on title page. With splendid color illustrations by Paul Brown. In the scarce dustjacket. VG+/VG- A very handsome, clean,and tight copy in blue woven cloth stamped brightly in black on the front boards and the spine. In a price-clipped dustjacket with part of the "$" showing on the inside front flap. There is chipping to the top of the spine and several areas of silverfish damage to the rear panel and the front fold. A very scarce dustacket with the pony's head inside the glove while 8 images of the pony surround the globe. Quite scarce in the dustjacket. With brief blurbe of "Daffy Taffy" and "Sparkie and Puff Ball" on the inside rear flap, indicating that this is a very early printing of the first edition, indeed. Child's name in ink at the top of the title page.

With sepia-toned illustrations throughout. Good plus in illustrated colored boards depicting the Baby Bears with flowers, front and back boards. Heavy wear along the spine edges, exposing the paper and fabric underneath. Heavy wear to corners as well as the top and bottom of the spine. Binding shaken. Name and date of previous owner: "Kathryn May Johnson, December 25, 1917" written in ink on the front endpaper. With a lateral tear along the spine on p. 165, not affecting the plate. Overall, a charming book.

One of the great English children's classic stories, featuring Toad of Toad Hall, Mole, Rat, and Badger.The chapter titled "Dulce Domum" is worth the price of admission. Very Good in woven green cloth stamped brightly in gold on the front boards and the spine which is dulled and darkened. Rubbing to the top and bottom of the spine as well as a couple of stray light marks to the spine. Internally very clean, tight, and unmarked.

In a very bright and colorful dustjacket which is very lightly soiled and darkened at the corners of the rear panel. Very crisp with the original price of $3.50 at the bottom of the inside front flap.

Very Good plus in a Very Good minus dustjacket. Handsomely bound in woven red cloth stamped in gold on the spine.Blue-grey woven endpapers and paste-down; with attractive blue paper at the sewn hinges and binding. A charming dustjacket with Burkert's illustration showing a child, perhaps a young Updike, holding a butterfly and looking at a vase of flowers. Wear to the corners and spine ends of the dustjacket which is also price-clipped. A collectible copy.
