I hope that you do not object to my bookplate being in it. It is a composition of three real photographs taken in the Polar sun. Our ship is in the distance. I am helping pull the sledges through rough ice. Sincerely yours, Donald B. MacMillan. Provincetown, Mass. Sept. 1:8:1933." Witht eh bookplate affixed to the front pastedown. VG in dark green cloth with gilt faded on spine but bright on cover.

NY. Putnam's Sons. 1959. First Edition Inscribed Presentation by the author-explorer: "With best wishes to the Lelands and appreciation for the wonderful hospitality to Ruth and me. Paul A. Siple, 4 July 1960. with a drawing of a penguin." Laid-in is also a letter(tls) from Paul A. Sipple on his Headquarters/ Department of the Army/ Army Research Office/ stationary dated 24 May 1960 to Harold Leland discussing his lecture and travel plans. Also laid-in is a copy of Leland's letter to Siple asking if he could help solve some of his problems in the development of special equipment. He suggests an electronic or transistor device for data collecting. VG+/VG- Very clean and tight in blue-grey woven cloth stamped brightly in red ink on the front boards and the spine. In a price-clipped, lightly worn and soiled dustjacket which is lightly foxed on the verso.

London and NY. George Routledge and Sons. 1875. First Edition. With 126 splendid black and white illustrations by Riou. With 16pp. of undated ads. VG- in decorated blue cloth stamped brightly in gilt. Numerous motifs such as birds, snowshoes, and polar animals surround the gilded field of ice, the stranded ship, and the explorers. Spine gilt is also bright, but there is rubbing to the sides of the spine and some fraying to the top and bottom of the spine ends. Corners also rubbed. With bookseller's impression stamp to the top corner of the front endpaper. Occasional light foxing throughout.
