This is the original lyric book .The famous comedy opera, Dorothy, which ran at the Lyric Theatre London after transferring from The Gaiety and the Prince of Wales Theatres for an enormous run of 931 performances between 1886/8 making it the longest running London musical of the 19th century. London, G. Bell & Sons Ltd., 1911. 9 1/2" X 7", Green cloth Hard backed Book with superb gilt design and lettering, (v) + 45 pages. This is the complete script. Includes 8 colour plates illustrated by W. Russell Flint. This was almost certainly the first time that these illustrations were printed and since that time the artist has been much admired. The book is in fairly good condition, a previous owners name in ink on front free end paper, slight foxing throughout, occasionally a little heavier, else Good.

London, J. Miles.c 1890's. . 8 ¼ x 5 ¼. 16pp plus cover. A brief analysis of Sardou's play to celebrate M.L Mayer's 31st season in London and starring Sarah Bernhardt as Floria Tosca. M. L. Mayer (died 1903), formerly of the Gaiety Theatre, staged twice-yearly seasons of plays in French. The Coquelins and other luminaries of the Comédie Française appeared in London the 1880s and here as often he had brought over Bernhardt. Cast list, introduction and extensive personal analysis by Mayer of the play. Tape along cover spine else VG. Rare .
