Arranged with easy accompaniment for piano.Ezra Read(1862-1922)was born in Willenshaw, Staffordshire .He was apprenticed to a blacksmith but at 15 started to study the piano with his brother Colin. Apparently Ezra and his wife turned out between 5000 and 6000 compositions and used 120 pen names because they didn't want to flood the market. One wonders if some of those other mystery composers of the era are, in fact, Ezra and Ida under different names! Ellis there is a repeat front cover in sepia.Large folio size 80pages containing Rudiments, Fingerboard, Exercises, Use of plectrum, progressive exercises, lessons in positions and solos with pianoforte and guitar.. Herbert Ellis(1865-1903) actually taught himself to play the banjo and in the 1880's wrote one of the very first banjo tutors. By the 1890's the mandolin had also become a popular instrument and hence this extensive and early tutor.
