She was a friend and relative of Goethe, who supported him during a year of illness, and later served as inspiration for "Schoene Seele" (beautiful soul) in Goete's "Wilhelm Meisters Lehrjahre" (Wilhelm Meister's Apprenticeship, 1795-6).
