German language book published in Israel regarding the Kenesset, the Israeli Parliament. This is probably the first, maybe only, book to be published on the Kenesset in German language in Israel. The book is for the German Jewish community in Israel who maintained its German culture amd comntinued to speak and read German. These German Jews were mostly exiles from Nazi Germany who fled to Palestine during the 1930s. Very Good.

FEUCHTWANGER, LION  Marianne in Indien und sieben andere Erzaehlung
Paris, Europaeischer Merkur. 1934, First Edition. Hard Cover, 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. German language. 124 pp. Lion Feuchtwanger (Jud Suess), (1884-1958) was a German-Jewish novelist. Studied philosophy and literature. During WWI volunteered to the German army. In 1925, became famous after publishing his "Jude Suess". Feuchtwanger predicted and warned against Nazi policy years before the rest of the world recognised the danger. In 1933, during a visit to the United States, Hitler was appointed as Chancellor in Germany. Feuchtwanger decided not to come back and settled instead in Southern France. His German citizenship was revoked, his house was confiscated and his property was plundered by the government agents. He was declared as 'The enemy of the state number one'. In 1940, when Nazis invaded France, he was imprisoned in a French camp and later managed to escape and move to USA, where he lived for the rest of his life. The names of other stories in the book: 'Hoehenflugrekord', 'Stierkampf', 'polfahrt', 'Nachsaison', 'Herrn Hannsickes Wiedergeburt', 'Panzerkreuzer Orlow' and 'Geschichte des Gehirnphysiologen Dr. Bl.'. Book condition: recently rebound; textblock faded (darkened) and very much stained/foxed. good(-).
