Vera Brittain (1893-1970), an Honorary Life President of the Society of Women Writers and Journalists, vice-president of the National Peace Council & a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, was born at Newcastle and attended at Somerville College, Oxford. On WWI, served as a Voluntary Aid Detachment nurse. Her fiance and her only brother were both killed in that war. After the war, she returned to Oxford as a teacher and started writing. She got married and moved to live in the United States, but after a short while returned to England. Vera Brittain was considered as a feminist and liberal. This book deals with sexual liberation and matrimony. According to the introduction, Brittain dreamed about reading this book, which is written in the 21st century by a woman writer, and she just put to writing the book as dreamed by her. Very Good. Although Casanova is often associated with Don Juan, there is a fundamental difference between the two: Don Juan is a legendary image, while Casanova was a real historical character. Book condition: pergament paper wrapper head and tail torn at backstrip and joints; soft cardboard cover somewhat torn at backstrip head (about 1" piece missing) causing mild deformation to head joints.
