The Cuban Consitution, modeled on the U.S. Constitution, was adopted by the Constitutional Convention in February 1901, Cuba was then forced to accept the Platt amendment, and Estrada Palma was sworn in as the first president of Cuba on the 20th May 1902. Drafts of the constitution had been published in Cuba in 1901, but this represents the first edition published in Spain. Scarce. Drafts of the constitution had been published in Cuba in 1901, but this represents the first edition published in Spain. Scarce.
