A word of protest is needed against the indiscriminate use of ionic medication by incompetent persons. The principles of electricity and of chemistry are essentially alien to the untrained mind, which is not always capable of assimilating precise detail, and yet the country is full of persons, unlearned and irresponsible, or very imperfectly supervised, who are ready and eager to undertake what they are pleased to call ionic medication for the relief of any condition, no matter how unsuitable it may be for such a mode of treatment. The unfortunate victims of chronic polyarthritis in its advanced stages have been especially exploited in this direction, and it is one which the medical profession should not countenance. H.
