Printed wrappers, light soil and wear, few small closed tears otherwise Very Good.The First Regular Settlement was done from 1869 to 1876; the Second from 1892 to '97, and this one from 1923 to 1930 with subseqent revisions. These extraordinarily detailed reports settling the revenue rates and policies for often very large districts were usually done every five or ten years. This report details the history of settlements in the Peshawar District and explains why the periods were longer.

WINGATE, COLONEL G.  Across Our Indian Frontier
London, Central Asian Mission. Ill.: Photographs by R.O. Wingate and Rev.T.M. Wiley. N.d. (ca. 1940?). 20pp. double paged map, 3 illustrations from photographs. 12mo/18.5cm. Stapled wrappers. VG+. An appeal from a veteran soldier with 32 years on the Frontier (starting in the 19th century) for the Christian Church to make a more sustained missionary effort in the tribal areas beyond the then British administered boundaries of the North-West Frontier, presumably into Afghanistan. Colonel George Wingate was the founder of the Central Asian Mission and the father of Rachel Orde Wingate (1901-53) who took one of the photographs and wrote a treatise on the Christian Church in Turkestan in 1948 after serving three years in Kashgar with a Swedish mission. Very scarce.
