Deluxe Edition based on Horace Liveright copyright edition of 1930. xxxiii, 370pp, thirty two 2-color woodcut illustrations by Witold Gordon, index. Tall 8vo/24cm. Grey cloth with gilt decorated spine, slightly rubbed at head of spine, small dark smudge at tail, blind stamp seal on front board, in protected but chipped dj, illustrated end papers, internally clean, tight and very good+.VG/G-. Marco Polo, one of the great travellers of all time, lived from approximately 1254 to 1324 A.D. Manuel Komroff (1890-1974) was a prolific American writer and editor with more than fifty titles to his credit in the Library of Congress, several relating to Marco Polo. Witold Gordon (c.1885?-1968) was well known for his illustrations which appeared in major magazines like Vanity Fair, Vogue and the New Yorker (for which he did eight covers in the 1940s). He also did murals for Rockefeller Center and the 1940 New York World's Fair.
