Fazal Karim Khan Durrani was Secretary of the Tabligh Literature Society and also Editor of Muslim India. He wrote a number of other books on Islam and the Pakistan movement.

Originally published in Urdu in 1932 and several times later this is a new translation published with the collaboration of Maulana Maududi. Khurshid Ahmad (c. 1932- ) was a principal translator and writer for the Jamaat-e-Islami, served as a central government minister and was in latter years Chaiman of the Pakistan Institute of Policy Studies..

Green cloth gilt, light rubbing, previous owner signature on ffep, otherwise internally fine. Derbyshire describes this work as, "A vigorous Marxist class analysis of Islamic religious movements and trends..from the last third of the 19th century until the 1940s." Wilfred Cantwell Smith (1916-2000) was one of the foremost 20th century authorities in the field of comparative religion. He founded the Institute of Islamic Culture at McGill University in the fifties and later head of the Institute of World Religion at Harvard. At the time of writing, he was Lecturer in Islamic History at Forman Christian College in Lahore and an Associate at the Henry Martyn School of Islamic Studies, Aligarh University.
