Wrappers, light rubbing at extremities, internally fine. A lively account of the author's first five years (of fifteen) of travel in Afghanistan, Pakistan and India between 1979 and 1994. Debra Denker is a journalist, photographer and video documentary producer. Her article on Afghanistan was the lead article in the 1985 issue of National Geographic (S.Jones 513) which had the famous photograph on the cover of a young Afghan refugee girl by Steve McCurry (see also). First Edition. xiv, 399pp, many maps (some as headpieces), more than one hundred illustrations from photographs, index. 8vo/22cm. Pictorial blue cloth with gilt lettering, illustration in silver of 30s era twin-engined airplane flying over Asian section of a globe map, light soil, top edge foxed, only label and pocket of ex-library status, otherwise internally clean, tight and very good. Basically a geography for young people but adequate for adults. Lowell Jackson Thomas (1892-1981) was a famous radio broadcaster, author and adventurer. Rexford Wadleigh Barton was a Harvard graduate and collaborated with Thomas on a number of geographic-travel books between 1936 and 1939. Anders Orbeck (1891- ) was a Norwegian writer and translator. Blue cloth backed boards, light wear in slightly rubbed and marked dj lightly chipped at spine ends, internally fine other than some foxing of pages adjacent to plates. An account of a trip from Japan to Jerusalem starting October 21, 1926 or 1927 and ending March 1st the following year with fine photographs of landmarks along the way. This is the first of about ten books by Alphyon Perry Richardson (1875-1949), a well-known cpa, who was also a board member of the Federal Reserve System. He had a reputation as a humanist and wrote extensively about the ethics of his and other trades.
