(from Sothebys) "2001: A Space Odyssey is a 1968 epic science fiction film produced and directed by Stanley Kubrick. The screenplay was written by Kubrick and science fiction author Arthur C. Clarke, and was inspired by Clarke's 1951 short story "The Sentinel" and other short stories by Clarke. Clarke also developed a novelisation of the film, which was released after the film's release, and in part written concurrently with the screenplay. The film stars Keir Dullea, Gary Lockwood, William Sylvester and Douglas Rain, and follows a voyage to Jupiter with the sentient supercomputer HAL after the discovery of an alien monolith. [MUSIC EPHEMERA], [PALO ALTO, CA ], [PSYCHADELIC MUSIC]
Assu Special Events Presents, Country Joe Mcdonald Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks October 8, 1971 (Memorial Auditorium Stanford University)
Palo Alto, CA: Stanford University, 1971. Handbill. This is a small handbill (approx. 7" x 5 1/2" ). Illustrated on one side. (illustrator unknown). This handbill is in Very Good+ condition. There is a slight paper clip indentation to the front right side. "By 1968, loud rock and roll had become more mainstream, at least in Northern California. Young people up and down the Peninsula wanted to see bands full of long-haired guitarists playing their own music. Palo Alto's downtown, having been gutted by the Stanford Shopping Center in the 1950s, started to add shops selling lava lamps and posters. There weren't any bars in Palo Alto yet--not until 1981--but The Poppycock sold beer, and that was enough. The locus of rock music in town had moved off the Stanford campus and over to the Poppycock." (by ROck Prosopography 101). Very Good+ .

[Fabric Concert Banner], [Train], [Steel], [Limbeck}
Tempe, AZ: NA, 2005. Ephemera. Color Illustrations; Ephemera: This is a small Banner / concert poster for the Indie Rock / Punk Rock Group The Format. This item is in Near Fine condition. This is a concert banner (17" x 11.5") consisting of paint on canvas -- likely silk screened -- for two 2005 dates (May 8 & 9) in Tempe, AZ. The Format appears to be the headline group, but also includes the groups Steel, Train, Tickertape Parade, Limbeck, and, Let Go. This rather unique item is not signed by an artist and could possibly be the work of an aspiring college student. The banner is clean and fresh, with no dirt or finger marks (in fact, it looks and feels as if it had never been used). The only fault is that the unsewn edges have started to ravel a bit at the very edges.. Fine .

[EPHEMERA] [SAN FRANCISCO] [FRANKLIN ROOSEVELT] [STAMP]
In Tribute to the Memory of Our Late President Franklin Delano Roosevelt 1882-1945 Issued During the United Nations Conference, San Francisco 1945
San Francisco, CA: Literary Anniversary Club, 1945. 1st Edition; 1st Printing. Other. This is one sheet, folded once, with text on three pages. The front cover includes a tipped on US Postage Stamp Commemorating the beginning of the United Nations. The center text page is a tribute to Franklin D. Roosevelt by Flodden W. Heron entitled Franklin D. Roosevelt the Crusader. The item is in Very Good condition, with some light wrinkling to the spine and a couple of light creases to the corners. "By 1945 it became clear that the Allies were winning the war, so President Roosevelt and other Allied world leaders continued their preparations for lasting peace between nations. U. S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt first coined the name “United Nations” in 1942 when representatives of 26 nations pledged their governments to continue fighting together against the Axis Powers. The next significant step towards creating this international body was a conference of delegates, to be held in San Francisco, called the United Nations Conference on International Organization (UNCIO). Unfortunately, President Roosevelt would not live to see his inspirational plans for peace come to fruition. Less than two weeks before he planned to open the United Nations Conference on International Organization, President Franklin D. Roosevelt suffered a massive stroke and died on April 12th, 1945. The nation immediately went into mourning. Just hours after FDR’s death, Vice President Harry S. Truman was sworn in as the president of the United States. As his very first act as president, Truman decided to proceed with the upcoming San Francisco conference as scheduled." (from Wikipedia). Very Good .

"The Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) is a proposed amendment to the United States Constitution designed to guarantee equal rights for all citizens regardless of sex; it seeks to end the legal distinctions between men and women in terms of divorce, property, employment, and other matters. The ERA was originally written by Alice Paul and Crystal Eastman. The amendment was introduced in Congress for the first time in 1921 and has prompted conversations about the meaning of equality for women and men. In its early history, middle-class women were largely supportive, while those speaking for the working class were often opposed, arguing that employed women needed special protections regarding working conditions and employment hours. With the rise of the women's movement in the United States in the 1960s, the ERA garnered increasing support, and, after being reintroduced by Representative Martha Griffiths (D-MI) , in 1971, it passed both houses of Congress in 1972 and was submitted to the state legislatures for ratification.".
