| , THE MINNEAPOLIS JOURNAL CALENDAR FOR YEAR 1906 (With Botantical Images of Violets by Paul De Longpre). , 1906. Illustrated by Paul De Longpre This is a 1906 calendar on three pages with four months to a page. Each page has a large image of violets by French-American artist Paul de Longpre. The calendar pages are held together by a somewhat worn purple ribbon tied through two holes at the top of pages - the ribbon was probably used to hang the calendar. It has been repaired using Japanese rice paper using archival materials. The tear does not touch the image. There is about an inch between the flower and the tear. There are two tiny closed tears on the left edge. The second page also has a short closed tear - 1/4". There is a hint of two vertical creases if the pages are turned over and held to the light. The paper is generally clean. The tone of the paper is definitely an antique white. Small letters beneath the name of the newspaper that published this calendar read "New Years Greeting. Impressive charm. Paul de Longpre was born in France and immigrated to U. S. He lived mostly in Los Angeles. He was able to build a very large home with a grand garden.
