Included with the cataglue is a separately printed Price List. 99 pages in a soft paper cover with a stapled binding. The front cover is a facsimile of the original. The condition is very good. There is a stlight curl to the corners of the front cover, but no chips, tears, and quite clean. The finterior pages are equally crisp and clean on quality paper with clearn reproduction photographs. There are no marks or writing except for a check mark on one of Tall oblong, 9" tall, nea 11" wide. There is a hanndsome reprofuction of an elaborate clodk on the rear cover. 8vo; 99 pages. | , CATALOGUE OF PARTS | THE MIEHLE (Miehle Company - Miehle Printing Press & Mfg. Co. | (Parts Catalog). Chicago, IL: Miehle Printing Press & Mfg Co.. This is a flexible semi-hardcover (or stiff wrappers) book with photos and part numbers for Miehle printing presses. There is no date . The binding appears to be pre-1900. There is no copyright page, foreword, introduction, advertising, or order form . There is no date anywhere, however, the numbers, #2-4175, have been written twice in pencil - on the front blank page and the back cover (a possible indication that #2 refers to the second catalogue? The first page starts with a photo-drawing of a printing press showing the gear side view. The second page is text explaining how to follow the Table of Contents to find the right classification of parts - Air Cushion, Gripper, Sheet Delivery, etc to select the number of the part needed from the images (about five to twelve parts to each page) . There is a reminder in the text and at the bottom of each page asking the customer to provide the part number and the serial number of the press. A paragraph in the text tells the customer that if they have doubts about whether the part is for the feeder side or gear side, the customer is to go to the rear of the book for an index cross-reference. The page number of the catalogue, the part number, and the part names are listed on 14 pages and in some cases, gear side and feeder side are specified. The book is well used. The cover is strong semi-hard paper of a maroon color, now darkened and with some spotting-staining. The spinew has some chipping. Some tears have been professionally repaired. The end papers are maroon lighter stock paper. The pages are printed on a slight glossy paper. There is smudging on some pages and smudging on the edges, especially the fore-edge. There is a remnant of a water stain on a few of the front pages at the top. The binding is quite tight - sewn. Though there is no date, the company started in 1890 and the instructions imply that they sold more than one kind of press by asking the customer to supply a serial number. 8vo; 96 pages. The cover has a repaired tear at the bottom of the spine at the outside. The covers are clean. There is a former owner name discreetly stamped in on the reverse. All the pages are clean. They all appear to be without marks or writing. There is a tiny spol on the top edge and wo pages have corner creases as if to makr a page. 8vo; 287 pages. This is a tall, wide, thick, heavy catalog from a well stocked hardware store in La Crosse, Wisconsin in the year 1921 ( the date is on the customer Dedication page) . There are 736 pages of items and an amazing amount of helpful information, especially how-to's of measuring for all kinds or purposes. There is a description and price below each item listed and most of them have illustratons or photographs. A person can get the sense that the detail for some of the items is as good as standing next to the saleperson and getting a lesson, advise, or some quality answers . There is also detailed instructions for certain products - instructions for mounting wall board, erection of ornamental steel ceilings, how to read a micrometer caliper. There is detailed writing on indoor appliances - vacumn cleaners, sewing machines. Each item can be selected with precision and there is inherent sales sizzle. The section on guns and sporting items is 87 full pages and includes dog collars, harmonicas, and fishing and gaming regulations for the State of Wisconsin. The section on automobiles is 32 pages. There is hardware for work wagons and carriages as well. Kitchen items, including cream and butter items and parts, percolators, all forms of heating, charts of nail and screw sizes, stenciling supplies. There are pages and pages of construction and repair tools. Serious steel supplies. There is postal and freight pricing and categorizing information (56 pages) and a very detailed Index (32 pages not included in the 736 page count for the catalog) . Throughout the catalog, half tone photos of LaCross and the surrounding areas are added. There is a full page photo of the Kroner stores, factory, and warehouses and a portrait photo of the founder. The sections are divided Mechanics, Agriculture, Builders Hardware, Building Materials, Paints and Varnishes, Domestic Wares, Stoves - Furnaces, Cutlery, Sporting and Athletic Goods, Automative Accesories. The binding is still quite strong in spite of the weight () . The covers show wear to the corners - this cloth covered book has threads showing at the corners and at the top and bottom of the spine. There is some color loss to the blue cloth and some scratches. The gilt title on the cover and spine is weak and worn. The end papers are a dark blue and there is no writing. There is a Kroner Hardware bookplate that has a name and place entered - this was catalog number 4108. There is an occasional pencil check mark next to an item. The pages are still clean and quite crisp. No smudging. There were many pieces of ephemera inserted between pages of the book that will be included with the book - pricing updates on Kroner Hardware letterhead dated 1923 and 1927, a torn invoice dated 1927, a page of lamp chimneys from a Chicago catalog with holes in it. A quarter page size battery price update from 1926. This hardware store was founded in 1865. It closed in 1948. A gem of a catalog-book. May require extra postage if shipped by air. 4to; 736 pages. There are 346 pages of items illustrated in carefully photographed black and white half-tone images followed by 16 pages of scientific books that were also sold. The Index appears to be extensive - pp 364 - 382. There are up to six and seven items per page. The covers are a maroon cloth (flexible) with gilt blind stamped title and publishers on the front cover and spine. The binding is tight considering the heavy glossy paper and the somewhat delicate cover. There is splotches of areas on the cover that have faded. Quite clean. The interior pages are near fine. No marks, no writing, no wear on the interior. Well cared for. The splotches are from the environment, they are not soil. This is List number 20.; 8vo; 386 pages. This is a softcover book with a beige cloth cover with a somewhat art nouveau illustration of a house and trees within a decorative border in green and red ink. There are two pages of text explaining the catalog and plans on pages 4 through 109. There is a nice black and white rendering of the house and a warehouse, another of the floor plan with dimensions, a brieft description, the cost of the plan, and the estimated cost of the house. Plans in the form of blueprints cost about $4 or $5, up to $8.00. Houses range from $900.00 to $3600.00. Most are in the range of $1400.00 to $2000.00. There is more text at the rear of the book with more information about what the plans include, information about insurance, guarantee, reversing the plan, etc. The book is quite clean with only a few tiny spots on the cover. The binding is tight. Crisp, no wear. The interior pages are very crisp and clean. There is a former owner name and place on the end paper with some other numbers. The owner name is also written on the corner of the title page - all in a lovely script. There are no other marks or writing. Well cared for. Tall and thin. 4to; 116 pages. This item is a catalog for rock crystal table ware, glasses, dishes, bowls, serving pieces, candlesticks. There are 11 pages with three of four half tone, black and white photographs of various patterns with their price for purchase. No date is in the catalog - it is from the 1940's time period. The factory was in St. Paul, Minnesota. The cover is a soft blue art paper printed in blue ink with a few lines of decorative accent in silver metallic ink. There is some information about rock crystal on the inside of the cover. The title page is the first page. The rear cover is blank on both sides. Stapled binding. There is a faint shadow of a water spont on the front cover at the spine. There is a touch of darkening at the spine. No marks or writing. The cata log is in very good plus condition. Some of the pattern lines are Lady Mary, Maryland, St. George, Nectar, Spruce, Canterbury, Kosta, Astrid, Virginia, Roseleaf. 4to; 12 pages.
