The fascinating Report by young British engineer Cameron Earl who visited Germany in 1947 and gained an astonishing amount of information on the development of pre-war German racing cars by Porsche, Mercedes and Auto-Union. The Report, first published in 1948 was described as 'the second most interesting book on motor racing ever published'. Cameron Earl died tragically young at 29 in a racing car accident but his engineering briliiance was such that he is still effectively suggesting lines of research for us to pursue. The bulk of the book is a facsimile copy of Earl's Report along with his photographs, detailed technical drawings and tabular data.
