HRISOULAS, JIM  Master Bladesmith: Advanced Studies in Steel
Boulder, Colorado, U.S.A., Paladin Press, 1991. (ISBN: 0873646126) Hard Cover, 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall, Fine/No DJ, as Issued, Though the publication date on this book shows 1991, it seems much newer than that, especially since it does not match the 1991 design of which we are more familiar. This one is blue, rather than yellow, and is designed without a dustjacket which the former design had. At any rate, this copy is beautiful -- very clean inside and out. Glossy pictorial boards show no wear aside from a scratch to outer edge of face with no loss of color. Pages and page edges are white as snow with no writing. Illustrated with technical drawings and photographs. The author addresses advanced blacksmiths eager to perfect their knowledge and skills of forging blades. He writes from 30 years experience and specializes in medieval broadswords and daggers and Damascus pattern-welding. Here he discusses setting up a workshop, steels and alloys, advanced forging techniques, the power hammer, grinding, heat treating and tempering, hilts, metal and wood finishing, leather working and scabbard making, sword making, spears, axes, Japanese nonferrous alloys and their coloration, Damascus steel, compounds and formulas and weights and measures.
