Victorian Studio Photo -- 3 Generations of Plow Family
, . Very Good/, We are charmed by this wonderful studio portrait depicting three male generations of the same family. We even know the names of the adults, thanks to penciling at bottom of photo and at rear. The elderly man is John Plow, the younger man is his son, Will Plow, and the child is Will's son. We have no idea where they lived, but we're guessing probably Ohio since most of what we are offered derives from Ohio due to our location. Photo is in excellent condition and the tonal contrast is crisp and sharp. One very light crease only defect. Measures approx. 5x7. Will send image upon request.

NO AUTHOR  Photo: Hotel Martinique Testimonial Dinner Dance Doll Supply Manufacturer's Association
, New York City: , 1954. /, Absolutely wonderful oversized photo mounted on heavy cardboard. Measures 19" across by 9-1/2" high. Shows great detail of what is presumably the ballroom of New York's landmark Hotel Martinique, plus tables filled with formally dressed members of the Doll Supply Manufacturer's Association and their spouses who attended a testimonial dinner dance. Photo is dated April 3, 1954. What's astonishing about it is not only its size and the hotel decor and appointments, but the wonderful vintage clothing. Each and every person is identifiable, so it's easy to pick out details. Also, in the corner of the picture it says "Tendered to David Richman -- Adolph Jacoby" and there is a white arrow over the head of a man standing along the left wall of the room -- presumably one of these two gentlemen. The Hotel Martinique still stands and was designated a landmark by the Landmarks Preservation Committee May 5, 1998. The 16 story French Renassaince structure is a major work of prominent designer, Henry J. Hardenbergh, noted for other luxury hotels such as The Waldorf, the Plaza and the Astoria. Photo is in good condition save chipping to bottom edge, especially to bottom right corner. However, no details of the photos itself are lost as a result and photo could be cropped to eliminate it altogether. It's a treasure and would be spectacular framed and hung in a retro 50's decor room.

The third is dated 1959 and is an outdoor shot of a class with their teacher who is not named. .Photo four is a second grade shot of the class at their desks with their teacher, Mrs. Henry. at the back of the class. O.T. Bohannon was principle. The fifth picture is dated 1960-61 a group of fourteen teachers seated outdoors, including three males.
