It measures 9-1/4"x12" and is clean as a whistle inside and out. Other than a little wrinkling at the top of the first couple pages, it's without fault and has no names or writing anywhere. Contains all the usual stuff, but especially fun is the section entitled "Coperative Living" which is filled with candid shots of students at play and just doing the normal "home" sort of things in the dorm. 176 pages including ads at back. Soft Cover, 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall, Very Good/, Beautiful copy of the 1950 Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey Magazine, made extra-special with the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Firestone Tire & Rubber Company of Akron, Ohio. Firestone, along with Goodrich and Goodyear, was at the time of publication one of the largest employers in the city, then known as "the rubber capital of the world." Aside from lots of great circus photos and a Firestone ad on the back cover, there's also a two page color spread inside advertising Firestone, as well as a black and white ad on the reverse side of rear cover touting Fomex padding and its use for fall mats and seats at the circus. This issue also offers the complete 1950 program act-by-act, plus articles by and about celebrities of the day. Cecil B. De Mille wrote a piece about why the circus would be the setting for his next epic film; Bob Smith of "Howdy Doody" fame wrote about the Howdy Doody joining the Ringling Circus; and Bob Hope penned a personal piece about why he loved circus clowns.Betty Hutton also tells about the thrill of playing Annie Oakley and June Allyson writes about what it meant to be an animal trainer. There's also a great story about the circus cookhouse at the Hotel Ringling and the huge tent that served as its dining hall.Magazine is clean and nice with just a flat crease to lower front corner. Both tears have been neatly repaired with almost invisible archival tape. Otherwise pages and page edges are pristine. Not commonly found. Text is illustrated profusely with original drawings. Provides a taxonomic treatment of some 700 species of Ohio flora with descriptions and commentary on the individual species, plus coverage of the families and genera to which they belong. The paper is also of very high quality.The author, Sarah Schenk Crane, was a Dayton, Ohio resident and wrote the book as a letter to, and for, her grandsons, Joseph Graham Crane and Jefferson Patterson Crane. Her husband was also Joseph Graham Crane. Her style is anecdotal, personal, and delightful to read -- very much like listening to a conversation in which she also touches on the Schenks, her own family. 67 pages.
