| HEUMANN, REV. L. Rev. Heumann's Family Health Book , New York, New York: L. Heumann Co. Inc. 1935. /, Soft Cover. Very Good/Wraps, Very Good. Revised Edition. The student of patent medicines won't want to miss this interesting spin on the subject. The purveyor, the good reverend himself, graces the cover in a drawing that highlights his ministerial colllar, while a notation inside assures that the book was revised by a registered physician in New York on February 1, 1935 -- two seals of approval in one fell swoop! We love the ads for such things as Oleatol Pills for the liver and gallbladder, Rimagot tablets for rheumatic pains, and compund powders to help "rid the body of dropsical fluids," but the best is a full page ad about acid dyspepsia. Some of the contraptions are fun too, especially the one to eliminate bed wetting. To be fair, a lot of the material in the articles isn't too far off base. Nonetheless, it's mind boggling to realize how far and fast medical technology has advanced in less than a century. Book is very clean and tightly bound and measures 6x9" with 128 pages. USD 12.50 [Appr.: EURO 8.5 | £UK 7.75 | JP¥ 1103] Book number: 9494 Click here to order or inquire at Garrison House Books. | ||
