WILCOX, R. TURNER  The Mode In Furs; The History of Furred Costume of the World from the Earliest Times to the Present
New York, Charles Scribner's Sons, 1951, First Edition. Hard Cover, 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall, Very Good/No DJ, A lovely clean book with no names or writing. Pristine pages and page edges. Dustjacket is missing, but former owner fitted book with a clear rigid plastic wrapper for protection. Only faults are a small bit of wear to cloth at tail of spine and three tiny holes at side of spine on the back board, none of which compromise the back pastedown. Light grey boards are pristine.Anyone interested in costume design, or theatre, will find this most helpful, as it is abundantly illustrated with detailed drawings. Begins as early as the Stone Age, then moves to prehistoric Egypt and continues all the way to the mid 20th century. Covers both men and womens' clothing with much historical background. There is also an exceptionally good glossary for furs at the back of the book. 257 pages.This book was one of several by Wilcox devoted to clothing. We also have available The Mode In Costume.
