, Salt Lake City, Utah: Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints. /, Soft Cover. Very Good/Wraps, Very Good. Lovely little undated brouchure which is signed "W.O. Robinson, Guide." Brochure measures 5x6" and is graced with beautiful color photos front, back and inside -- a total of six full-page images in all. Though this building was replaced functionally in 1962, it is still used for other purposes, just no longer open to the public. Brochure is undated, but it appears to be from the 1940's. Images include the magnificent exterior which is surrounded by 24 massive granite columns, the office of the first presidency, a board room with wonderful beamed ceiling and wainscoting, the entrance foyer with its lovely curved stairway, a private office and the double entry doors. Also includes a copy of the the Articles of Faith inside rear cover. Beautiful tribute to a monument of neoclassic architecture designed by senmior architect Jospeh Don Carlo Young. Excellent condition with just a small bit of browning to edges.

BLOCK, JEAN F.  Hyde Park Houses; An Informal History 1856-1910
Chicago, University of Chicago Press, 1978. Hard Cover with dust jacket, Very Good/Very Good, Very nice copy. Book itself is without fault. No bumps to boards, no writing. Dustjacket is likewise very attractive with just a tiny bit of soil to upper rear corner, a small scratch at back, one crease near back spine and one very small tear at top front. Has not been price-clipped and looks most handsome in brand new protective mylar. A wonderful tour of Hyde Park-Kenwood, one of Chicago's oldest neighborhoods and one with a diverse architectural presence. Seventy-six black and white photographs, offer a visual tour, not only of the area, but also of 19th century American architecture. The text, which is printed on a deep cream colored paper, is plentiful and informative and also dotted with additional photos and maps. Book also includes biographical info on more than 40 architects including Dwight Perkins, George Maher, Henry Ives Cobb and Frank Lloyd Wright. . The appendix is organized by street and offers construction date, architect, then owner and then owner's occupation for each property. 156 pages. Indexed.
