Light wear to crown and tail of spine only defect. Pages pristine with no names or writing. Also included is the booklet which came with it which corresponds to the pages of the book by allowing the reader to easily check 1978 values. While these are of course not current today, it is nonetheless interesting to see how the pieces have fared over the years. Book offers virtually no text, but rather page after page of photos of glass pieces all manufactured from 1930-1934. What is especially helpful to the collector is the ability to see what pieces were made in each pattern in order to round out a collection.Book measures 9"x11". Unpaginated.

Nicely illustrated with black and white plate printed on heavy coated paper displaying 119 rare and unusual reproductions in gold, silver, ivory, and precious woods and stones. Text discusses the history of tobacco, the modes of production and the sonsumption of snuff, collecting and collections and more. 149 pages plus plates.

GRANT, MADISON  The Knife in Homespun America (SIGNED Limited Edition in Slipcase)
, Privately Printed, 1984, Limited Edition. Hard Cover with dust jacket, 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall, Fine in Fine Slipcase/Fine, Madison Grant's books on knives and early pioneer accoutrements are highly regarded by collectors and becoming difficult to find, especially in the limited edition with slipcase. This is a beautiful copy, #126 out of just 300. It is signed first on the specially designed book plate on the front free endpaper and then again inscribed and signed to its former owner. The book has been lovingly kept and is clean and attractive with only one very tiny tear to upper rear corner which has been reenforced at underside with a very small piece of archival tape. Even the paper of the dustjacket is as crisp as new. Book is profusely illustrated with both drawings and large, crisp, detailed black and white photos of 300 items with descriptions.The author offers an overview of the history, styles, and uses of the knife in everyday life in early America. For a collector this is a wonderful resource, as there are many variations. 187 pages.

No names or writing, very clean and without fault. The jacket shows small chips at three of the four spine corners and a small mark to the front, but has been placed in brand new mylar and looks most handsome. An excellent reference guide for the collector, written by a senior director for Christie's Auctions prior to his retirement, and considered the most important contribution to the study of English silver since the publication of Sir Charles Jackson's "English Goldsmiths." For the first time collectors have access to alphabetical lists of all known makers' marks from the beginning of the registers at Goldsmith's Hall to the year of Queen Victoria's accession. A grand total of 3473 marks have been gathered from the actual registers and an additional 441 from other sources. The sum includes not only London smiths, but also those from the provinces who registered in London.The other incredible feature is the gathering of biographical information on no less than 2553 smiths with some entries being quite lengthy. All told, there are 737 pages. Illustrated with the marks. Book itself is in fine condition. No names or writing, very clean and without fault.
