Rough cut pages, a few as yet unopened. Though published as part of the Iowa Biographical Series, Ohio, too, claims this illustrious leader. Not only did he serve as a Brigadier General in the Ohio Militia during the War of 1812, but also served as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives, the Ohio Senate and as Ohio's 12th governor. His portrait still hangs in the capital building in Columbus. It wasn't until 1838 that he left Ohio to travel to Iowa at the bequest of President Martin Van Buren to serve as governor of the new Iowa Territory, a post he held until 1841 when he was replaced and subsequently retired to his Iowa farm. One of the more interesting junctures of his Ohio political career was certainly the boundary dispute between Ohio and Michigan which resulted in the stand-off known as The Toledo War. Two chapters are devoted to it. Book has 356 pages and is indexed. USD 25.00 [Appr.: EURO 16.75 | £UK 15.25 | JP¥ 2150] Book number: 17638IN Click here to order or inquire at Garrison House Books. |
