Still the standard by which later histories are measured, this is a lovely set of the second edition. Prelims a little toned and occasional light soiling in the text. Bindings (marked G.P. Putnam's Sons on verso of front endpapers) are sound and covers very lightly edgeworn. Top couple of inches of back cover of volume I is lightly sunned. Very good+.
